<abstract xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><p>It is reported about an instrument for measuring the stamping volume of tobacco. For testing purposes, readings with various kinds of tobacco have been taken, in order to examine the dependence of the various kinds of tobacco, and, furthermore the influence of the temperature, the load on the tobacco column and of the water contents. The results will be shown on charts and graphical representations. The instrument supplies reproducible results provided that certain conditions are adhered to. </p></abstract>
