The role of Slovak translators in the dissemination of Slovak literature in Cuba between 1960 and 1989

Despite the fact that, as renowned translators such as Anthony Pym (2009) or, in the Slovak cultural context, Katarína Bednárová (2015) have stated, the history of translation cannot be written without considering who those who made the interpretation and understanding of the translated works possible were, the reality is that, in general terms, translators continue to be the great unknowns. For this reason, in this article, we have set out to investigate the figures of those men and women whose work made it possible for Slovak literature to reach a particular Spanish-speaking reading public, that of Cuba, in a specific period of history, that between 1960 and 1989.
