<abstract xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">The efficient operation of logistic processes requires a wide range of design tasks to ensure efficient, flexible and reliable operation of connected production and service processes. Autonomous electric vehicles support the flexible in-plant supply of cyber-physical manufacturing systems. Within the frame of this article, the extension of the Two-Echelon Vehicle Routing Problem with recharge stations is analyzed. The objective function of the optimization problem is the minimization of operation costs. The extension of 2E-VRP means that the second level vehicles (electric vehicles, must be recharged) come from one recharge station, then pick up the products from the satellite, visit the customers and return to the recharge station from where it started. We solved the route planning problem with the application of construction heuristics and improvement heuristics. The test results indicate that the combination of this approach provides a superior efficiency.</abstract>

Two - Echelon Vehicle Routing Problem with Recharge Stations

<abstract xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">Supply chain executives are faced with the challenge of reducing labor costs. Travel time or picking efficiency can easily account for 50% or more of order picking time. If we omit human factor and the technical equipment of the warehouses, picking efficiency is mostly affected by two factors: correct combining orders into a single travel instance and picking orders in batch is the first factor; the second one is a goods placement – the more effective the goods are located, the shorter will be the picking distance for each order or batch of orders. It means that individual orders will be picked faster. Usually to determine the correct location for the goods 3PL’s are using ABC analysis that includes indicators like count of orders, goods turnover, picking rate, weight etc.There are also more complicated indicators like goods adjacency. Such indicators are harder to take into account using ABC analysis, as it requires sophisticated analysis of customer orders.In recent publication goods placing by results of ABC analysis was compared to the genetic algorithm approach. It was showed that genetic algorithm much more effective for goods placing.The goal of this paper is to improve developed genetic algorithm and include in calculations factors of the labor costs and warehouse topology. These factors will make algorithm usable in real warehouses and WMS (warehouse management system) information systems.</abstract>

Making Warehouse Logistics Smart by Effective Placement Strategy Based on Genetic Algorithms

<abstract xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">One of the key elements for rural development is the connectivity using proper roads, which enhances the passage for economic and social utilities with overall socio-economic development. Socio-economic impact assessment (SEIA) forms one of the significant measures to evaluate the outcome received through infrastructure development in rural areas. SEIA modeling under computational intelligence coupled with fuzzy framework provides significant ground to deal with both qualitative and quantitative data. This study proposes a novel methodology by using Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) with Fuzzy Delphi method (FDM) to evaluate socio-economic impacts. The effectiveness of the methodology is presented through a case study for 27 habitations connected with all-weather rural roads constructed under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) scheme in Jhunjhunu district of Rajasthan State, India. 33 key-parameters under five different criteria are considered for SEIA. For a comprehensive view of the impacts, the results are depicted using ArcGIS tool.</abstract>

The Application of Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System and Fuzzy Delphi Technique to Assess Socio-Economic Impacts of Construction of Rural Roads

<abstract xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">Information and communication technology (ICT) has revolutionized almost all aspects of human life. Thus, examining the effect of this technology on social problems such as traffic congestion, environmental pollution, urban design, land use etc. is of immense importance for transportation planning. Using 303 questionnaires completed correctly by residents of Tehran, this study applied Structural Equation Modelling to investigate the effect of ICT usage in a broader definition on 27 types of out-of-home activities, which were classified into three categories of subsistence, maintenance and leisure activities. The results showed the complementary/generation effect of ICT usage on travel demand. The use of ICT was also found to increase the time spent on subsistence activities and decrease the time spent on maintenance activities, as out-of-home maintenance activities can be carried out more easily and rapidly by Internet, and so people naturally prefer to follow this approach.</abstract>

Modelling the Effect of Information and Communication Technology on Activity-Based Travels, Case Study: Tehran

<abstract xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">Rail transportation is most economical means of the mode in comparison to road transportation. Intercity railway stations are nodal points of the rail network. With the growing demand and land use constraints, these are to be well planned, managed and designed. In intercity railways station infrastructure, passageways are confined and elevated elements for pedestrian movements to access among platforms to alight and board trains. Provision of appropriate width for passageway is of greater importance regarding comfort, convenient, evacuation, efficient, aesthetic, cost-effective, environment-friendly and well integrated with other elements of infrastructure. A proper understanding of pedestrian flow characteristics and affecting factors on passageway aids in design implications. In the present work, pedestrian flow characteristics variation on passageway and its width effect is studied. Results showed that, under normal conditions, flow rate (ped/m/min) and mean walking speed (m/min) reduces with increase in width (m). For a given flow rate, volume (ped/min) of pedestrians served on passageway increases with increase in width. Statistical tests revealed that there exists a significant difference in mean walking speed of pedestrians on passageways with different widths.</abstract>

<abstract xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">Smart contracts are scripts on the top of the blockchain technology. They represent a form of automation by what the layers of intermediaries can be reduced or even completely replaced. Accordingly, blockchain smart contracting systems decrease transaction and enforcement costs as well as process time.Moreover, we argue, blockchain and smart contracts can facilitate cross-organisational collaboration and their underlying business processes. Hence, they are able to support the integration of entrepreneurs and SMEs into trans-national supply chains by reducing high entry barriers and weakening the dominating position of big players.This paper discusses the research questions how blockchain smart contracting can facilitate the implementation of collaborative logistics structures and how the integration of SMEs into sustainable maritime supply chains can be safeguarded. The research bases on expert interviews and case studies. The results showcase the potentials of using blockchain smart contracting in the environment of trans-national and multimodal supply chains.</abstract>

Blockchain and Smart Contracts for Entrepreneurial Collaboration in Maritime Supply Chains

<abstract xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">The present paper aims at measuring the satisfaction of travellers and stakeholders on perceived quality of service provided at the Latvian interchange “Riga International Coach Terminal” and understand whether there are any gaps between the two groups of involved parties, based on their perceptions and expectations. To this end, a travellers’ attitudinal survey was organized and interviews with representative stakeholders were conducted, in order to capture and analyse their attitudes and preferences and extract those attributes that affect their satisfaction. Results showed that the interchange performs well in physical quality attributes, such as travel and wayfinding information provision, but in terms of access and aesthetics expectations in the internal and external design, some contradictory findings were revealed between travellers and stakeholders, validating the fact that understanding users’ perceptions can work as vital input to policy makers’ perceptions of an integrated sustainable public transport system.</abstract>
