Journal of Catalan Intellectual History

The JOCIH focuses mainly on Catalan culture. We understand intellectual history to be synonymous with cultural heritage in a broader sense. From this point of view, we consider discourse analysis, literary criticism, political philosophy, political science, cultural history, the history of ideas, the history of literature, the history of science, and the history of philosophy as different and acceptable perspectives on this same subject. Authors are encouraged to submit papers on philosophy, humanities, social sciences, religion, art and other related subjects from a historical and analytical approach. Essays and more general reflections are welcome as well, including methodological approaches, scientific, and technological trends.

The journal offer articles on specific topics, but it also contains critical reviews of editorial novelties, historical documentaries and exhaustive bio-bibliographies of the different Catalan, Valencian, Balearic or Northern Catalan authors (especially, but not exclusively, from the 18th to the 21st century). The JOCIH aims at encouraging international research on Catalan intellectual history from the Medieval and Renaissance periods as well. The journal’s Website offers updated news on publications and academic events, difficult-to-access books, articles published in other journals, and audiovisual materials.
