The beginning of the "Economic and Regional Studies / Studia Ekonomiczne i Regionalne" magazine www.ers.edu.pl dates back to 2007. During the years 2011-2012, it was published only in Polish as a semi-annual magazine. Since 2013 it has been published as a quarterly in two parallel language versions: English and Polish. We consider the English language version as the main one, having international outreach, while the Polish version provides greater access to the magazine's contents for national readers, especially for university students in Poland. The magazine has been published in A4 format, both in a paper (circulation of 100 copies) and electronic version. The original version of the magazine is the electronic version, available since the beginning at www.ers.edu.pl on the platform of the publisher: Pope John Paul II State School Of Higher Education in Biała Podlaska, and, since 2017, also on two other platforms - www.journalssystem.com/ers/en and www.degruyter.com. The magazine has an open character and implements international publishing standards. The electronic version allows free access to all current and archived issues and articles.
The main mission of the magazine is to broaden theoretical knowledge and the results of empirical research across a wide range of economic and social sciences, as well as that of management and public policy studies, regional and local studies, and socioeconomic geography. The editorial board draws attention to historical and current development problems of Central and Eastern European countries, but also opens up to development problems of other regions, in particular, to the development of less developed regions, where socioeconomic problems are overcome by implementing innovative methods, strategies and development policies. The magazine takes pride in the fact that renowned and eminent authors from Poland and abroad publish their articles on its pages.
It includes original, overview and review articles, reports on surveys, announcements of research results and conferences, case studies and other citation and editorial / informational publications. The magazine specifies the criteria for authors regarding the size of the publications, volume of the summary, the number of keywords, manner and time of reviewing, style of bibliographic description, ethical matters and other items. Editorial pages contain data about the publisher, editorial board, scientific council, reviewers, database indices and information from the editorial board. The standard issue contains up to 10 publications and possible scientific reports. In 2017, thanks to digitisation, the management of the editing and publishing process of the magazine was streamlined, and attention was paid to promotion. The programme board, currently numbering almost 40 people, with the dominant participation of foreign scientists, is gradually being complemented, and the circle of reviewers (also from foreign centers) is being broadened, consisting currently of more than 70 people. The editorial board accepts texts in Polish and English and offers to authors the assistance of professional interpreters in translating articles. A system of labelling articles with DOI numbers and writers with ORCID numbers was established. The editorial board has sent an application to the Web of Science - Emerging Sources Citation Index and Sherpa / Romeo with a request to make a preliminary assessment. The editorial board is also working to achieve an entry into the EBSCO database. Currently, the magazine is indexed in the following databases: AgEcon Search, AGRO, BazEcon, BPN / POL-Index, Index Copernicus, where ICV received 100.00 points for year 2017. On the current list of magazines and journals ranked by MNiSW, the magazine holds 9 points.
The main motto of the editorial board is to ensure high scientific quality and attractiveness while maintaining high ethical standards, broadening indexation in renowned scientific databases and its internationalisation.
