<abstract xml:lang="en" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">The correct estimation of ionospheric delays is very important in precise satellite-based kinematic positioning, especially over long baselines. In the case of triple frequency system, the ionospheric delays can be estimated from the measurements. However, in the case of dual frequency system, the situation becomes more complicated. The precision of those ionosphere models supplied by the external information source such as JPL IONEX Data is not sufficient, as the high frequency component is neglected. The precision of the low frequency component is not sufficient for the use in long baseline kinematic positioning. On the other hand, the high frequency component can be estimated from the phase range measurements. If the low frequency components are estimated by using an external information source or pseudo-range measurements, more reasonable estimates of ionospheric delays may be possible. In this paper, the estimation using the pseudo-range measurements is discussed. The accuracy of the estimates for ionospheric delays is not sufficient at present because of the bias errors in the pseudo-range measurements. However, if the accuracy of the pseudo-range measurements is improved in future by GPS Modernization and GALILEO, the method would become very promising and convenient, since any external informations are needed and realtime estimation of ionospheric delays becomes possible.</abstract>

Estimation of Ionospheric Delays in Dual Frequency GNSS Positioning

<abstract xml:lang="en" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">A simple and flexible algorithm for combination of space geodesy observations is presented. The CoCoS software that implements this algorithm is described in details. The combined GPS-VLBI solution for the CONT02 VLBI experiment data and observations from co-located GPS sites is obtained and discussed.</abstract>

COCOS: A New Sinex Combination Software

<abstract xml:lang="en" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">Spherical harmonic formulation of gravitational potential of the atmosphere depends on the analytical model of the atmospheric density which is used. Exponential and power models are two well-known mathematical tools which are used in atmospheric applications. This paper presents simple formulas for the harmonic coefficients of internal and external types of the atmospheric potential based on these models which can be used in most of the gravimetric aspects. It considers the atmospheric effect on the satellite gravity gradiometry data as an example for numerical investigations. The numerical studies on these data show that the maximum atmospheric effect is about 2 mE over Fennoscandia based on both models, and their differences are less than 0.1 mE. The difference between indirect atmospheric effects reaches 2 cm and 0.02 mGal on the geoid and gravity anomaly, respectively in this region.</abstract>

Artificial Satellites

 Artificial Satellites is a journal of planetary geodesy, affiliated to the Space Research Centre, Polish Academy of Sciences. It offers a forum for scientific publications on such aspects of geodesy and geodynamics as positioning, satellite geodesy, gravity field, geoid and heights, tides, reference frames, Earth rotation. We accept original papers of fundamental nature, i.e. concerning new ideas, theories and processing means, as well as those dealing with new applications of the existing methods and technologies.   Why subscribe and read   Artificial Satellites is the only scientific Journal in Poland which presents investigations of Earth’s gravity field, shape, tides and rotation using measurements of geodetic satellites and ground measurements.
