The National Museum (NM) is preparing several temporary exhibitions in all of its buildings, along with preparing new permanent exhibitions in the New and Historical Buildings. All parts of the National Museum are incorporated in the preparation of new exhibitions, i.e. the Historical Museum, Natural History Museum, Czech Museum of Music, Náprstek Museum and the National Museum Library. In 2017, these exhibition projects are: Light and Life, Masaryk as a Phenomenon, and Indians. In 2018, the National Museum will present the Czech-Slovak / Slovak-Czech exhibition, which will reflect the 100th anniversary of the founding of Czechoslovakia, together with selected moments of Czechoslovakian history and the relationship of these two nations. 2019 could bring the opening of the grand Egyptology exposition Sun Kings and also new Natural history expositions. The remaining permanent expositions should be opened in 2020. The exhibitions in this period will likely recall some important anniversaries (1620, 1920). In future years, the renovation of the Czech Museum of Music and Náprstek Museum will take place.
The prepared exhibition of the experimentarium museum ExperiMus is of an unconventional format, which had gradually evolved from the exhibition project The Story of Planet Earth. The development aimed towards greater interactivity and adaptability of the given space. ExperiMus is designed to provide lectured and non-lectured educative activities based on simple and compelling experiments. Its format is similar to the science centre but it is aimed at animate and inanimate nature. The goal of the exposition is to link the relationships between various disciplines and to explore analogies. Close cooperation with educational institutions and the media is envisaged in both running and marketing of the exhibition.
The first plan of the presentation within an extremely challenging seminar entitled “Museums and their international audiences” organised by the National Museum was a short presentation of the exhibition of the Museum of Czech Literature that has been dedicated to interwar emigration from the area of the former Czarist Russia to Czechoslovakia, a major exhibition organised this year in the premises of the Hvězda Summer Palace. The purpose of the paper was not only to contribute to the promotion of the exhibition, nor would that be a sufficiently good reason for the exhibition that was trilingual and therefore completely open to both the English and the Russian-speaking visitors. The presentation was supposed to feature the other goals of the exhibition, which aimed further than simply presenting a closed historical chapter.
The paper deals with the possibility of displaying costumes or textiles as “invisible mannequins”, which had been successfully used on exhibition Retro. This method of installation enables practically unlimited use and it is applicable both for historical costumes and also for contemporary fashion apparel. The main objective of the text is to present the overall production process of form.

The Book Report exhibition is an example of modern technologies serving the presentation of the book exhibits. The exhibition arranged for the 50th anniversary of the first competition for the Most Beautiful Czech Book of the Year occupied a special place in the context of book exhibitions more generally. It exceeded preconceived notions and was highly experimental in character. It consisted of three parts, related to each other thematically and chronologically: The Most Beautiful Czech Book of 2014, Fifty Years of the Most Beautiful Czech Book Competition and The Most Book. These parts corresponded to three chronological planes. These three planes linked together the historical perspective, the view of the current form of the book and a vision of future developments in the field. The exhibition used the most modern technologies and resources from the visual arts and at the same time the physical presence of the book as traditional paper media remains intact. The focal point of the exhibition was the process of digitisation of books, performed within the exhibition hall. The project has its own webpages that remain in existence after the exhibition had finished.
