The largest role in the antioxidant activity of a body is played by the enzymatic system, which includes the following enzymes: total superoxide dismutase (SOD) and its isoenzymes: cytosolic (CuZnSOD) and mitochondrial (MnSOD), catalase (CAT), and glutathione peroxidase (GPX). SOD is the only enzyme decomposing hydrogen peroxide (H 2 O 2 ) to the superoxide anion radical (O 2 ¯).
