In the paper a nonlinear model of a lattice-boom crane with lifting capacity up to 700mT for static analysis is presented. The rigid finite element method is used for discretisation of the lattice-boom and the mast. Flexibility of rope systems for vertical movement and for lifting a load is also taken into account. The computer programme developed enables forces and stress as well as displacements of the boom to be calculated. The model is validated by comparison of the authors’ own results with those obtained using professional ROBOT software. Good compatibility of results has been obtained.

In the flexible road pavement design a mechanistic model of a multilayered half-space with linear elastic or viscoelastic layers is usually used for the pavement analysis.
This paper describes a domain selection for the purpose of a FE model creating of the linear elastic layered half-space and boundary conditions on borders of that domain. This FE model should guarantee that the key components of displacements, stresses and strains obtained using ABAQUS program would be in particular identical with those ones obtained by analytical method using VEROAD program.
It to achieve matching results with both methods is relatively easy for stresses and strains. However, for displacements, using FEM to obtain correct results is (understandably) highly problematic due to infinity of half-space. This paper proposes an original method of overcoming these difficulties.
The paper introduces optimization of the functional use of renovated spaces in historic buildings in terms of fire risk. It brings assessment of fire protection in the folk house Habánsky Dvor, situated in the village of Veľké Leváre, whose function was changed into the museum. It goes into static analysis of existing load-bearing structures and assessment of their fire resistance according to Eurocodes.

This paper proposes an organological approach of one of the components of front suspension, namely anti-roll power link. There will be realized a CAD 3D modelling of this power link. 3D modelling is generalized and there were used the powers of Catia V5R20 software. Parameterized approach provides a high flexibility in the design, meaning that dimensional and shape changes of the semi-power link are very easy to perform just by changing some parameters. Several new versions are proposed for the anti-roll power link body. At the end of the work, it is made a static analysis of the semi-power link model used in the suspension of vehicles OPEL ASTRA G, ZAFIRA, MERIVA, and constructive optimization of its body.
In this paper a results of a static analysis of the tubular linear electromagnetic actuator is presented. The linear actuator consist of two parts: a cylindrical unmovable coils surrounded by a soft ferromagnetic case, and a runner made from sequence of permanent magnet with a soft ferro-magnetic gasket. In the first part of the paper the analytical method was performed for preliminary analysis. In the second part of the paper the more detailed analysis was depicted with using finite element method (FEM). The magnetic circuit shape and impact of selected dimensions on static characteristics is presented. Then the axial and radial electromagnetic force as a function of the runner dimensions were analysed.
The goal of this work is to compare different constitutive models in the nonlinear static characteristic analysis of asphalt concrete core dams. The Duncan E- μ model, Duncan E-B model and double-yield-surface model are three major constitutive models in the nonlinear static prediction of earth-rockfill dam. In this paper, an earth-rock fill dam with asphalt concrete core-wall in an actual hydraulic engineering is employed to compare the three models. The finite element model of the core-wall dam is proposed. Nonlinear static analysis of the dam is carried out and the static characteristics are obtained to study the differences generated from different constitutive models. Numerical results show that both the stress extremum and the stress distribution of dam body with three different models are coincident one another. In the deformation analysis of dam body and core-wall, the maximum values of sedimentation with the Duncan E-μ model and the Duncan E-B model, which are greater than the value with double-yield-surface model, are close to the practical test data though the deformation distributions with three models are in good agreement. But, the analysis results of core-wall stress with double-yield-surface model are proper and more reasonable than the other models.
