Vulnerability Analysis of A Smart Heating System

Abstract

The opportunities offered by the smart city and the smart home to create livelier cities and homes in cities of increasing populations. [1] Meanwhile, there may be more problems which the average user does not yet think about. Focusing on these issues will be of utmost importance for information security and IT security, as the development of technology may not be able to keep up with a society such technologies are used in. On a theoretical and practical level, I examine an intelligent heating system for IT vulnerability, as well as some cases of attacks against IoT in recent years.

Consolidating The Control of Previously Automated Homes

Abstract

Nowadays, the number of smart homes is increasing steadily. People tend to try anything for better comfort for their family, or simply for themselves. We spend roughly half of our lives at home, so it’s only logical to focus and pursue higher comfort levels for our homes. This phenomenon opens enormous potential for automation, whether it is automatic garage doors, motorized shutters, access control systems, HVAC systems, or anything else that serves our well-being. This project looks at the implementation of some automation tasks, using a PLC (Programmable Logic Controller). This approach is different from conventional automation, thanks to the ability of the PLC to control everything in a building thus condensing three, or even four floors into one central unit.

Management of IOT Devices in a Smart Home Through the Application of an Interactive Mirror

Abstract

Internet of Things (IoT) devices are big part of concept, which is called by electronic producers and many others Smart Home. Authors of this paper have decided to take a look at it and as a result of this analysis propose and implement (in a form of working prototype) a system that could manage different kinds of devices.

The main objective of the project presented in this paper is a device that looks like a mirror and it is known to most people also is an interactive center, a place to obtain information of the devices that surround us and various parameters coming from sensors. Authors have prepared a prototype, that will be the central point of the apartment and will allow users to control all devices connected to this main system. Prototype allows to connect external sensors over GPIO (general purpose input/output) interface or Internet connection. There is also a possibility to add another communication interfaces such as 433MHz radio module, which is very cheap and works great in small areas or bluetooth module.

Integration of personal health systems into intelligent living environments

Integracija osebnih zdravstvenih sistemov v inteligentna bivalna okolja

Rešitve s področja informacijskih in komunikacijskih tehnologij (IKT) lahko prispevajo k boljši oskrbi kroničnih bolnikov in starejših. Posebej so aktualni osebni zdravstveni sistemi (angl. personal health systems - PHS), ki omogočajo oddaljeno spremljanje zdravstvenega stanja bolnikov, predvsem kroničnih. Drugi sklop aktualnih rešitev so inteligentna bivalna okolja, ki lahko bolnim in invalidnim osebam olajšajo vsakodnevna opravila in s tem podaljašajo obdobje samostojnega življenja doma.

Razširjenost kroničnih bolezni in tržni potencial, ki ga izkazujejo tako sistemi PHS kot rešitve inteligentnih domov, navajata na sklep, da obstaja krog potencialnih uporabnikov obeh sklopov storitev. Predvidevamo, da bi imela tesnejša integracija obeh vrst sistemov pozitivne učinke tako v smislu tehnične izvedbe in cen storitev kot tudi večje uporabnosti zaradi manjšega števila različnih uporabniških naprav oz. vmesnikov.

Koncept integracije storitev PHS v sisteme inteligentnih domov smo uresničili v okviru treh pilotnih projektov. Za Dom IRIS smo razvili sistem za spremljanje krvnega tlaka in ga integrirali v obstoječo rešitev za upravljanje doma. Delo smo nadaljevali v okviru projekta Inteligentni dom Telekom (IDT), pri katerem smo razvili celovitorešitev inteligentnega doma, namenjeno izvajanju storitev v operaterskem okolju. Tretji pilot je rešitev Moje zdravje, pri kateri smo zdravstvene storitve integrirali v TV vmesnik nove generacije.

Rezultati pilotnih projektov kažejo na smiselnost koncepta integracije sistemov tako s stališča učinkovitejše tehnične izvedbe kot tudi večje uporabnosti in nižje cene storitev. Nadaljnji izzivi so povezani z oblikovanjem poslovnih modelov, udejanjanjem navezave na zdravstveni informacijski sistem ter ustrezno vključitvijo zdravstvenih delavcev v storitve telemedicine.
