This paper presents the results of the most recent research concerning Witold Lutosławski’s artistic self-awareness, based on critical source editions of Lutosławski’s writings (publ. 2007–08). In the first part I discuss the edition of the composer’s ‘official’ writings contained in the collection Lutosławski on Music. These writings provide us with knowledge of the key elements of Lutosławski’s compositional technique and aesthetic principles, his attitude towards new music, and also to various problems of contemporary music culture in Poland and abroad. The second part of the article concerns Lutosławski’s notes contained in what is known as the Notebook of Ideas. Written in a characteristically personal tone, they illustrate the transformation of the composer’s artistic self-awareness that took place in the late 1950s and the early 1960s, when Lutosławski’s individual musical language was taking shape. The Notebook of Ideas sheds light, amongst other things, on the circumstances of composing Jeux vénitiens – the first work that puts into practice Lutosławski’s vision of twelve-tone harmony and controlled aleatorism.
This research work is still considered as a theoretical reference material for transmitting the important role that thermoelectric materials play in evolving reality of our world. In this update, a brief reminder of the basics behind thermoelectric materials is provided, followed by some of the most recent developments, whether successful or not, in the attempt to create new more efficient materials for heat recovery within the coming years. One of the approaches deals with an innovative way to produce an already existing base material for thermoelectric application, whilst the other approaches describe new possibilities that were attempts to reach a higher dimensional figure of merit zT.
The aim of this paper is the presentation of the general form of the constraint equations necessary to calculate the accelerations occuring on a five sided spatial mechanism. Using these equations the computing of the accelerations for any part of any plain or spatial mechanism will be possible.
The constraint equations of the acceleration are obtained by computing the time derivatives of the velocity equations (which in general form are given by  and ) followed by the correspondent grouping of the unknowns.
Highly trained professionals are an addition to the 21st century military organizations that means an utmost challenge for our education systems. The amount, variety and quality of all sorts of profes-sionalisms required by today’s warfare technologies are the crucial requirements to match for today’s and tomorrow’s military recruiters and educators. This article is a try to disseminate some ideas and thoughts concerning the development and improvement of the present educational portfolio by a more proper understanding of the wants and needs of the military workplace through the example of the research and analysis of aircraft maintenance officers and their professional competencies.
Innovativeness in Europe has been a formulated goal of the EU since the Lisbon Strategy. One of the goals of the new Europe 2020 Strategy is smart growth, i.e. growth based on knowledge and innovation. This requires improving the quality of education and research results, the transfer of knowledge and innovations between countries, and broader commercialization of research results. Hence, the measurement of innovation evolves in order to reflect the factors that determine the level of innovativeness of economies. The purpose of this paper is to present the level of Poland’s innovativeness against the background of the EU countries, using the SII (Summary Innovation Index).
In numerous UN policy documents, a sustainable future through education is set in a key position; the UNESCO Global Action Programme on Education for Sustainable Development (UNESCO, 2018) is no exception. Therefore, it is of great importance to examine and report how different UN member countries work towards the implementation of sustainability at all levels of education. This article is a review of recently published research in Finland, with a focus on sustainability in the educational system. Specifically, the article deals with teacher education, combined with theoretical research around sustainability and systems thinking, to find a pathway forward. The main finding is that higher education in Finland cannot guarantee that student teachers are prepared enough to teach about sustainability. This issue is discussed and addressed in the last part of the article.

While the forward kinematic task of robots can be solved easily through homogenous transformation matrices, the inverse kinematic task leads to difficulties as the construction of the system becomes more complex. In this paper, a solution has been worked out for a three Degree-of-Freedom (DOF) robot-arm based on recent research, by the use of a novel, fixed-point transformation based technique.
