Distribution of selected invasive plant species in the Romensko-Poltavsky Geobotanical District (Ukraine)

Abstract

The paper presents the distribution of 10 selected invasive plant species in Ukraine. The studied taxa comprised 8 invasive and 2 potentially invasive species. All species were characterized in phytogeographical, biological and ecological terms. Their distribution was shown on grid maps.

A new record of Spergularia marina (Caryophyllaceae) from southern Poland

Abstract

Spergularia marina, a rare native halophyte and nationally vulnerable species, is reported from a new locality in southern Poland. It was found on 14 September 2016 in Mogilany, Lesser Poland Voivodeship, growing between paving stones at the Zakopianka road. Map of distribution of S. marina in Poland based on the ATPOL cartogram method is provided, and its possible pathways of introduction are discussed.

A new record of Senecio inaequidens (Asteraceae) in Poland

Abstract

The paper presents a new Polish record of Senecio inaequidens, a perennial plant native to South Africa. It was found growing on roadside verge in Głogoczów, West-Beskidian Piedmont, southern Poland, on September 22, 2016. A map of distribution of S. inaequidens in Poland is presented using the ATPOL cartogram method and the pattern of its spread along motorways is discussed.

New records of Gypsophila perfoliata (Caryophyllaceae) in Poland

Abstract

The paper presents two new records of alien Gypsophila perfoliata in Poland. It was found on 16 September 2016 in Bodzanów and Łapczyca, Lesser Poland Voivodeship, southern Poland, growing on roadside slopes and in roadside ditch. The updated map of distribution is presented using the ATPOL cartogram method, and the pathways of introduction and spreading are discussed.

Orobanche Laxissima Uhlich & Rätzel (Orobanchaceae) – A New Species for Dagestan (Russia) and Azerbaijan

Abstract

Orobanche laxissima Uhlich & Rätzel (Orobanchaceae) is a probably endemic Caucasian parasite of trees. New localities of this species are reported from the Greater Caucasus: Russia (Dagestan) and Azerbaijan. These are the easternmost sites known for the species, so they extend its distribution range. Its hosts, abundance, and habitat preferences at the new localities are described, and a supplemented map of distribution of this species in Caucasus Mts. is provided

Further notes on the distribution of Dittrichia graveolens (Asteraceae) in Poland

Abstract

The paper presents a new record of Dittrichia graveolens in Poland. This alien species was found growing on roadside verges in Głogoczów, West-Beskidian Piedmont, southern Poland, in 2016. An updated map of distribution of D. graveolens is provided based on the ATPOL cartogram method, and its pathway of spread along the roads is highlighted. Moreover, the Polish vernacular names “omanowiec” and “omanowiec wonny” are proposed for the genus Dittrichia and the species D. graveolens, respectively.

Agastache Rugosa (Lamiaceae), A New Casual Alien In The Flora Of Poland

Abstract

In September 2014, the casual occurrence of Agastache rugosa in Poland was confirmed. It was found on a ground heap between fallow and arable fields in Łbiska near Zalesie Górne in the community of Piaseczno, the Masovian Voivodeship (coordinates: 52°1′33.06″ N, 21°0′27.72″ E; the ATPOL cartogram unit: ED46). This rare species of Asian origin is cultivated in bee-plant gardens of some beekeepers in Poland. The map of distribution and mode of introduction with garden waste from horticultural farms were presented.

Orobanche alba subsp. alba and subsp. major (Orobanchaceae) in Poland: current distribution, taxonomy, plant communities, hosts, and seed micromorphology

Abstract

The paper presents the current distribution of Orobanche alba subsp. major and subsp. alba in Poland, based on a critical revision of herbarium and literature data as well as results of my field studies. Most of their localities are in southeastern Poland: in the Małopolska Upland, Lublin Upland, Roztocze Hills, Polesie, Przemyśl Foothills (Pogórze Przemyskie), and Western Bieszczady Mts. These are the northernmost sites known for the species in Central Europe, so the new data extend its distribution range. Maps of distribution of both the subspecies in Poland and of subsp. major in Central Europe are included. Additionally, their seed micromorphology was compared using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The taxonomy, biology, and ecology of both the subspecies of O. alba are also discussed.

The genus Orobanche L. (Orobanchaceae) in the Małopolska Upland (S Poland): distribution, habitat, host preferences, and taxonomic problems

Abstract

The paper presents the distribution of Orobanche species (parasitic herbs known as broomrapes) in the Małopolska Upland (Wyoyna Małopolska) in southern Poland. During floristic research conducted there in 1999-2011, 12 species of this genus were recorded: O. alba, O.alsatica, O .arenaria, O.bartlingii, O .caryophyllacea, O. coerulescens, O. elatior s.str., O. kochii, O. lutea, O. pallidiflora, O. picridis and O.ramosa. Eight species were not previously known from this area. Information on the hosts, abundance, and habitat preferences at the localities is given, and an updated map of the distribution in the Małopolska Upland is included. The taxonomic position of O. elatior s.str. and O.k ochii, diagnostic features to differentiate between them, and a revised map of distribution of both species in Poland are also presented.

Invasive species in the flora of the Starobilsk grass-meadow steppe (Ukraine)

Abstract

The results of an investigation of the invasive species in the flora of the Starobilsk grass-meadow steppe are presented. Check-list of alien plant has over 386 species of vascular plants of which 28 species are invasive. We have identified 6 transformer species from the invasive plants. We aggregate data on the entry, distribution history, ecology, occurrence in different plant communities, degree of their naturalization and the habitats where they occur. The leading families of invasive species are: Asteraceae. The basis for this group is presented by origin from the North America and the Mediterranean. With respect to the time of immigration, most of them are kenophytes. By the method of introduction, ksenophytes are dominated; according to the degree of naturalization epoecophytes and agriophytes dominate in this group. With regard to the characteristics of life forms, half of invasive species are terophytes. The vast majority of plants are heliophytes and xeromesophytes. Most species are found in biotopes group I: Cultivated agricultural biotopes; least of all species found in biotopes group F: Biotopes dominated by chamephytes and nanophanerophytes. Only 3 species found in biotopes group F: Biotopes dominated by chamephytesand nanophanerophytes. The maps of distribution of 28 invasive species are provided. Most of the species marked dispersed in more than 30 squares.
