Introduction The most common cause of solid pelvic tumors and an indication for gynecological surgery in women are uterine leiomyomas (ULM), also known as uterine fibroids. Approximately 20.0-40.0% of women during their reproductive period have ULM [ 1 ]. These are benign fibrous tumors descendent from a single uterine smooth muscle cell . Clinical problems associated with ULM are excessive bleeding and secondary anemia, increased urinary frequency, pelvic discomfort, bladder and bowel dysfunction, a sensation of pressure in the lower abdomen and pain during
The present report describes a case of pyloric wall leiomyoma in a shelter dog with a history of vomiting, pica, licking and chewing the walls of the kennel. The clinical, radiological, ultrasound, hematological and blood chemistry examinations showed no abnormalities. A compulsive oral disorder was diagnosed and treatment with behaviour therapy instigated. The compulsive oral behaviours stopped following behaviour therapy, however, the vomiting persisted, suggesting the need to proceed with further diagnostic exams. The ultrasound examination, repeated after 6 months, had revealed the presence of a hypoechoic mass (3.52 cm) in the pyloric-antrum obstructing the gastric outflow. Following gastric dilatation the mass was surgically excised. Histological examination revealed a pyloric leiomyoma. In clinical practice this case highlights the importance of gastrointestinal diseases in the development of behaviour changes related to pica.

hemorrhage and abdominal pain. [ 6 ] Many glomus tumors of the stomach, however, are misdiagnosed as other mesenchymal tumors, such as gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) and leiomyomas. Therefore, it is of paramount importance to accurately preoperative diagnose gastric glomus tumors. Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) is a useful imaging technique for diagnosing the gastric submucosal tumors, [ 7 , 8 , 9 ] but only a few case reports have been published regarding the characteristics of gastric glomus tumors. Atypical endometriosis is considered to be precursors for malignancy. Coexistence of atypical endometriosis and ovarian neoplasm has been found in some studies. We describe the case of a 48-year old women diagnosed with clear cell carcinoma of ovary. The review of histological slide confirms the presence of benign endometriosis in both ovaries, the atypical endometriosis and clear cell carcinoma in the right ovary and the presence of uterine leiomyoma.
Angiomyolipomas are benign mesenchymal neoplasms, presenting with a variable mixture of adipose tissue, smooth muscle and vascular component. Although they are typically found in the kidneys, many cases of extrarenal angiomyolipomas have been reported. They are extremely rarely present in the uterus. We describe a case of a 56-year-old woman, operated on for leiomyoma. Total laparohysterectomy and bilateral adnexectomy was performed. After histological and immunohistochemical examination, the final diagnosis of uterine angiomyolipoma was made. Renal and extrarenal angiomyolipomas are compared in regard to clinical and morphological aspect and their difference from PEComas is dicussed. PEComas have been defined during the last decade and there are still issues regarding terminological clarity and overlapping.
