Statement of the problem Most of the current socio-economic and environmental challenges are due to the crisis of relations in the system “society – nature”. To a large extent, this applies to the forestry sector developmental problems which are of great interest throughout the world. Professional literature and practice started to focus intensively on the field of talent management. A lack of talented individuals occurred in all sectors worldwide. The war for talents has not faded out, on the contrary, it has been intensifying. The aim of the paper is therefore to analyse the perception of opportunities for development and management of talents in forestry and to specify characteristics of employee/ talent support perception in surveyed companies. The analysis is based on a primary survey conducted in 101 forestry companies. The data were obtained through surveys in which one manager and one employee represented a single company. One-dimensional and multidimensional statistics were used to evaluate the data. The results showed that employees perceived developmental conditions in companies more positively than what was stated by managers and company representatives. The average difference in the perception was 8.5%; employees perceived the conditions better than company representatives. When negative phenomena were analysed, the perception was quite opposite. The average difference was 9.5%. The limit of the paper is the narrow focus on primary sector companies. The results may help surveyed companies in the primary sector to encourage managers and employees to participate in developmental programmes as their own initiative and willingness to take part in education and developmental activities was found.

Stratégia rozvoja lesníctva na Slovensku

V príspevku sa vymedzuje globálny strategický cieľ lesníctva na Slovensku. Ďalej sa uvádzajú princípy dlhodobého rozvoja lesov (trvalo udržateľný rozvoj, optimálna produkcia a optimálne plnenie mimoprodukčných funkcií lesov, stabilita lesných porastov, ekologizácia, hospodárnosť). Najdôležitejšou časťou sú strategické ciele lesníctva do roku 2025. Ide o päť strategických cieľov (podpora ekologického obhospodarovania lesov, zlepšovanie a ochrana životného prostredia, zlepšovanie kvality života, zvyšovanie dlhodobej konkurencieschopnosti, posilňovanie kooperácie, koordinácie a komunikácie). V rámci týchto strategických cieľov sa vymedzilo osemnásť priorít. Pri každej priorite sa uvádza jej charakteristika, spôsob zabezpečenia a zdôvodnenie.

The contribution is published on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of the establishment of a forestry research organisation in Slovakia and the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Czechoslovak Republic. We present important forestry research works, which were written by former (no longer alive) workers of the Forest Research Institute (FRI) in Zvolen in the second half of 20th century. The works (30 works in total) were divided into seven scientific areas: biology and silviculture (five works), forest protection (four works), forest management (five works), forestry mechanisation and harvest-production technologies (four works), forestry economics (five works), hunting (three works), natural environment (four works). First, summary information on selected works in a specific area was presented. Then, individual works from the specific scientific areas were characterised in more detail. Their value for the development of science and research as well as for the practical forestry was presented. Moreover, their importance for the present time was addressed. The paper presents only a very limited selection of a great number of works by FRI workers published in the second half of 20th century. The table with the information on the periods, when the individual significant researchers worked at FRI, is presented at the end of the paper.
