Acute appendicitis is one of the most frequent surgical emergencies in children. The diagnosis of this condition is still a challenge for small pre-school children, and, generally, for children, as the wrong diagnosis is 28-57% for children between 2-12 years old. Therefore, the ultrasonographic exam for suspected acute appendicitis at patient’s bed (POCUS) is a necessary and useful paraclinic exam for supporting the diagnosis. The procedure has established: the quality of use in the emergency department (ED) of POCUS by the pediatric emergency doctors; the performance of ultrasonografic exam (US) in acute appendicitis (AA); reduces associated costs for imaging studies by standardization diagnosis of acute appendicitis through ultrasonographic examination. The ultrasonographic exam can be useful in evaluating children with suspected acute appendicitis and should be first choice for imaging examination. Also, it can reduce the use of CT scan and exposure to radiation, and the annual cost for imaging exams.

Aim: This article is set on presenting various types of anodontia, the most frequent types found in a dental office and to bring awareness to parents and also the dentists on the signs of agenesis and its consequences in time. Material and method: for a year (1st September 2017 – 31th August 2018) various patients with different types and locations of anodontia were diagnosed correctly by an oral and radiological exam in a dental office. Results. Anodontia is found almost equally in both sexes without major differences between males and females. Real agenesis is most frequently found in the second premolars – study reports show that this is because of phylogenetic evolution. False agenesis is more frequent in the 3rd molars because they are most likely extracted. Third molars are usually extracted because they don’t have space to emerge on the maxilla or mandible or they emerge in a vicious position. Canine agenesis has a very low frequency. Conclusions: It is very important to do a thorough check-up and a correct case history followed by radiological investigations each time a suspicion of a possible anodontia exists. It can only be certainly diagnosed by having a full oral and radiological exam. Also a difference must be made between the real, false and pseudoanaodontia.

Study aim: this study examined the item difficulty and item discrimination scores for the HRFK PE Metrics cognitive assessment tool for 5th-grade students.
Materials and methods: ten elementary physical education teachers volunteered to participate. Based on convenience, participating teachers selected two 5th grade physical education classes. Teachers then gave students (N = 633) a 28-question paper and pencil HRFK exam using PE Metrics Standards 3 and 4. Item difficulty and discrimination analysis and Rasch Modeling were used data to determine underperforming items.
Results: analysis suggests that at least three items are problematic. The Rasch Model confirmed this result and identified similar items with high outfit mean square values and low Point Biserial correlation values.
Conclusions: teachers are in need of valid and reliable HRFK assessment tools. Without the removal of three items in the PE Metrics HRFK exam for 5th-grade students, complete use of the exam could offer incorrect conclusions.
Introduction: This paper undertakes to investigate the connection between two approaches to scoring translation by examining 115 test papers of the translation component of the C1 level PROFEX English for Medical Purposes (EMP) exam. The main objective of the study is to reveal whether, and to what extent, the method of assessment influences the score.
Material and method: The test papers were scored independently by two experienced raters according to the marking scale of the PROFEX EMP exam, then holistic scoring was carried out by a third rater, who was uninformed of the official scores for the test papers. Correlations were calculated, first between the holistic scores and the official scores based on the combined holistic and discrete point approach, then between other components of the written part of PROFEX EMP exam (reading comprehension and writing) and the holistic scores and the scores reached with the combined method, respectively.
Results: A strong correlation has been revealed between the scores achieved by the purely holistic method and those assessed with the combined holistic and discrete point approach. The holistic method was shown to be slightly more reliable than the combined approach.
Conclusion: The study has revealed that the method of assessment does not significantly influence the score in the evaluation of translation in the PROFEX EMP exam.

The article deals with the examination of the state of the ball track of the heavy mining machine ZP6600/Z79. It gives results of material exams which were taken on given samples and describes the progress and results of the numerical computation of the state of tenseness by finite element method of the bottom part of the ball track when it touches the ball.
Background and purpose: The purpose of the article is to analyse results of entrance exams and of regularly exams for foreign students in the Czech language undergraduate study programs at four faculties of University of Economics, Prague (UEP) with the intention to investigate the dependency between the results of Entrance exams from English and mathematics and (1) results of regularly exams during the study and between (2) completion rate of the study.
Design/Methodology/Approach: We have analysed 4.381 records for applicants from foreign countries who applied for studies between years 2009 and 2015. We used standard statistics methods and the method of logistic regression in the form of logit model.
Results: We identified weak statistical correlation between entrance exam results from mathematics and results of regular exams. The correlation coefficient varies between 0.078 – 0.283 for investigated faculties of UEP. The same indicator for English language exams presents better values and it varies between 0.218 – 0.312. If an entrance exam result is higher by one point, the probability of successful completion of studies is multiplied by values between 1.017 - 1.042 for individual faculty per one additional point.
Conclusion: The results of the research in mathematics and English language show that excellent results in entrance exam cannot not guarantee successful regularly exams. Conclusion for the probability of completing studies is that the acceptable level of points for admission foreign students is between 150 and 170 points, depending on the faculty.
