Introduction The number of inter- and multidisciplinary mobility studies and related applied projects have recently increased in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), with many such projects conducted with the aim of increasing the share of non-motorised, active, or sustainable transportation in the region’s large cities (e.g. Hennig 2011 ; Vakili, Isaai & Barsari 2008 ; Masoumi et al. 2018 ; Masoumi 2019 ).
