Cognition and Cognitive Enhancing Substances
Cognition is ‘the mental action or process of acquiring knowledge and understanding through thought, experience, and the senses’ ( Oxford Dictionary ). Cognitive skills are perception, memory, language, attention, executive functions, psychomotor functions, information processing, applying knowledge and changing preferences ( Froestl W, Muhs A, Pfeifer A, 2014 ).
Most cognitive enhancing substances, in general, are stimulants of the nervous system. Stimulants are known to increase physical and

Admission to medical colleges is associated with a feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction amongst most physicians-in-training. However, the demanding educational and training environment in preclinical and clinical years has been shown to be emotionally taxing in many published studies ( Kiessling et al., 2004 ; Popa-Velea et al., 2017a ). Owing to this emotional exhaustion, a continuous down-spiralling of psychological and physical health has been reported among these students; overburdened by monotonous schedules, extensive curricula, a
( Arvaniti et al., 2008 ). Total scores of 0–20 indicates low adherence to Mediterranean diet, scores 21–35 moderate and > 36 high adherence to Mediterranean diet ( Panagiotakos et al., 2006 ).
Statistical analysis was performed with SPSS for Windows v.24.0 Statistical Package. A chi square test was used to test the difference between categorical variables. P < 0.05 was considered as statistically significant. Fitting to a normal distribution, was assessed for every variable, with the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, and it was not rejected in any case
