Autoimmune thyroid disease (AITD) is a common disorder, ranging from hypothyroidism (Hashimoto’s thyroiditis) to hyperthyroidism (Graves’ disease). It is the most common cause of unilateral and bilateral proptosis. Nearly 60% of patients with AITD develop thyroid associated ophthalmopathy (TAO) [ 1 ].
