Pseudomonas putida CA-3 for growth and PHA accumulation on pyrolyzed poly(styrene) (PS) as carbon source. Hence, the value-added conversion of a spent petrochemical plastic was combined with biosynthesis of a “bioplastic”. PS pyrolysis generates a gaseous mixture of styrene and other aromatic compounds.
