This article contains information on new duties of Centre for Composite Technologies (CCT) managers, implemented to increase their efficiency. Methods of quality improvement of aeronautical composite materials testing are presented. It was achieved by correct test plans definition, performing mechanical and physicochemical tests up to allowable composite generation. Several tests of this type are listed which are executed according to international standards of American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), including those in extreme temperatures. Effect of Lean Sigma and DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve, Control) implementation in the lab of CCT is shown. Results of bearing strength of quasi-isotropic laminate (carbon fibre and epoxy resin) with a bolt in different ambient conditions are presented. Moreover, the article discusses methodology of tension and shearing strength determination in the case of composite specimens diverging from others with application of statistical MNR method (Maximum Normed Residual). MNR coefficients are then compared with Critical Values.

The article presents results of research work which aim was development of solution for volatile organic compounds (VOCs) removal from vehicle indoor air. VOCs, especially benzene, toluene, and xylene (BTX), are air pollutants responsible for many civilizational diseases because of its carcinogenic and mutagenic properties. Concentration of those substances can be even few times higher in micro atmosphere of vehicle cabin than in other indoor atmospheres . The aim of the scientific cooperation between Dr. Schneider Automotive Polska and the Wroclaw University of Science and Technology (WUST) is research on innovative (international range), product development – photocatalytic reactor characterized by Volatile Organic Compounds, especially BTX removal properties. The BTX reduction effectiveness, caused by photocatalytic reactor application in vehicle ventilation system, was subjected to in-depth analysis. The results showed difference on not only maximal benzene, toluene, and xylene reduction (separately) but also in the pattern of response surface. In some tested parameters, the hazardous compounds (as a BTX sum) were reduced for almost 70%. The photocatalytic reactor seems to be prospective solution for air quality improvement in any vehicle cabin.
Up-to-date, of high-tech design techniques of machine operation require constant monitoring on some levels. Generally, the monitoring today is limited to failure detection and machinery components check.
The Marine Engineering Faculty of Gdynia Maritime University designed the System for Marine Engine Operation Assistance on the basis of Sulzer Diesel AL 25/30 testing station.
The engine modernization and wider research and survey capabilities resulted in engine operation quality improvement, marine power plant research enhancement. The project broadens the research range and engine failure expertise as well as takes into consideration innovative marine fuel emissions. The goal has been achieved in the way of the test equipment modernization including: effective pressure sensors, high pressure fuel sensors, monitoring and visualization of the engine systems’ parameters, electronic indictors adopted to continuous operation at all cylinders in the same time, and high class decision aid computer equipment. Engine modernization and data base extension allow for carrying out a wide scope of research.
Additionally, the article presents innovative diagnostic solutions together with their applications.
