Impeller Radial Velocity and Air Flow Rate Influence on Copper Rougher Flotation Recovery

Abstract

A rougher flotation study has been done to analyze the effects of copper feed mineralogy, air flow rate and impeller radial velocity on metallurgical performance. During the performance testing the trials were exposed to metallurgical examining and computerised mineral analysis to establish a size-by-size mineralogy. The mineralogical and metallurgical information was compared to the material balance for rougher flotation results. These samples showed that copper recovery optimization should focus on the losses of liberated Cu-minerals and how they are associated with fine particles. The result of variable impeller radial velocity for each flotation cell cascade on metallurgical performance has been explored on a known-sized and an unknown-sized base, to gauge the input from the fine particles. An industrial application is discussed in this paper, and it validates that divergence of the impeller radial velocity and air flow has positive influence on the recovery.

Ranges of Backwater Curves in Lower Odra

Abstract

In the paper, the backwater curve ranges at the mouth of the Odra River with changing boundary conditions were analysed. The aim of the study is to determine which boundary condition, i.e. stage of lower cross-section or flow in upper cross-section, has a greater impact on the formation of the backwater curve at the mouth of the Odra River. Due to the complicated system of the Lower Odra River network (Międzyodrze and Dabie Lake), the analysis takes into consideration a section of the Odra River from a weir in Widuchowa upwards, thereby accepting as an axiom that the cross-section in Widuchowa is within the range of sea impact, regardless of other hydrological conditions.

Analysis of The Rayleigh Number in the Area of Steel Rectangular Sections in the Conditions of Stedy and Unstedy Heat Flow/ Analiza Liczby Rayleigha W Obszarze Stalowych Profili Prostokątnych W Warunkach Ustalonego I Nieustalonego Przepływu Ciepła

Abstract

The paper presents the experimental measurements dedicated to the research for the Rayleigh number (Ra) in the area of rectangular steel sections. This problem is associated with the analysis of the free convection which takes place in the heating of sections bundles during the heat treatment. The study was conducted for both steady and transient heat transfer. The values of the Ra number obtained for the tested sections allow to describe the phenomenon of convection on the basis of a very simple criterial dependence. It greatly simplifies the mathematical description of the heat transfer phenomenon in the concerned charges.
