This paper focuses on the hardware development of an indoor ultrasound based robot localization system. The problems related to the ultrasound time of flight measurements are presented and solutions are proposed related to the hardware applied for measurements and measurement synchronization. Experimental measurements were performed to analyze the applicability of the developed system and measurement methods.

The simplex algorithm is one of the most widely used linear optimization algorithms. Although its history goes back to the 1950’s it is still an evergreen topic because it is usually the hidden computational engine behind other algorithms. Thus its performance heavily affects other optimization systems. The implementation of the simplex algorithm is not a trivial task. An efficient implementation uses very complex methods. Since most of the open-source systems can hardly be used for research purposes the development of a structured and well-documented system is relevant. In this talk we present our own state-of-the-art solver and our development experiences.

In modern medical research and development, the variety of research tools has extended in the previous years. Exploiting the benefits of shared hardware platforms and software frameworks is crucial to keep up with the technological development rate. Sharing knowledge in terms of algorithms, applications and instruments allows researchers to help each other’s work effectively. Community workshops and publications provide a throughout overview of system design, capabilities, know-how sharing and limitations. This paper provides sneak peek into the emerging collaborative platforms, focusing on available open-source research kits, software frameworks, cloud applications, teleoperation training environments and shared domain ontologies.

In the paper a Sugeno architecture based hardware implemented neuro adaptive inference system’s training algorithm is presented. The block diagram of the neuro-adaptive inference system output computing implemented in hardware is discussed, and the implementation in reconfigurable circuit of real-time parameter tuning is presented. The proposed system functionality based on measurements achieved is demonstrated. The resulted architecture has a very high processing speed, and the parameter adaptation works in parallel with the output processing. The proposed architecture can also be used for different training algorithms’ development.
