Countering Hybrid Threats by Integrating Civilian-Military Capabilities

Abstract

Proliferation of risks and of asymmetric, especially hybrid threats requires to generate integrating, comprehensive security solutions at national and international level. The beginning of the millennium highlights new ideas of conducting military conflicts. Thus, given the future combat, characterized by a high degree of complexity, when the military forces become joint multinational bodies, becoming aware of the importance of human terrain and of the necessity to develop new mechanisms to integrate capabilities and the effects of all the actions of military and civilian power instruments, represents, in my opinion, highly significant priorities.

Taking this into consideration, the following article presents some doctrinal concepts, mechanisms, principles and methods through which this desired purpose could be achieved.

Law in the Process of Social Integration of Immigrants

Abstract

The article explores the problem of social integration of immigrants from Asia and Africa, arriving in European countries. Emphasis is placed on cultural differences between the existing society and immigrants that create social tension and conflicts. The solution to the problem should be seen in the implementation of positive law, which is applied in the host country. The main arguments in support of this opinion are the fundamental individual rights and the principle: first in time is first in right.

Brexit – Major Consequences on the Process of European Military Integration?

Abstract

The United Kingdom’s choice to withdraw from the European Union (Brexit) took many by surprise, including a good part of the „Leave“ voters. The repercussions of this vote are in full display and affect each and every area of the community life. Considering different indicators (such as the number of troops deployed by the United Kingdom to military operations conducted by the European Union or the British contributions to the Battlegroups), in this paper we submit to analysis the United Kingdom’s stance in the process of military integration within the European Union in the period before the Brexit Referendum (2011-2015); we mainly argue that - although regrettable - Brexit will not significantly affect the day-to-day activities and projects conducted within the Common Security and Defence Policy.
