Gastroprotective effects of methanol extract of Eremomastax speciosa leaf harvested in Southern part of Nigeria in rat

-induced ulcer model. Misoprostol is a prostaglandin analogue that stimulate mucus and bicarbonate production, inhibit gastric acid secretion and cause vasodilation which shield the stomach mucosa against damage ( 34 ). This suggests that both ESE and misoprostol conferred cytoprotective effect on gastric mucosa and could be the possible mechanism of action. The mucus-bicarbonate layer create a near neutral microenvironment (pH ̴7) at the mucus-mucosa interface and also prevent the proteolytic digestion of gastric epithelium by pepsin ( 35 ). It was observed that ESE caused

were obtained from infected stock Swiss mice by 1 % pepsin/1 % HCl digestion ( Dunn & Wright, 1985 ). Two groups of seven animals received GA at a dose of 0.5 and 1 mg/ kg by intraperitoneal injection once every other day to give a total of 3 doses. Treatment started at 7 th day p.i. The remaining mice served as a control infected group. Additional seven infected mice received only DMSO. At 35 days p.i., the animals were euthanized, and muscle larvae were recovered and counted as described before ( Dunn & Wright, 1985 ). Similar parts of the diaphragm and thigh

Effect of pre-treatment on the generation of dipeptidyl peptidase-IV- and prolyl endopeptidase-inhibitory hydrolysates from bovine lung

efficacy of a number of enzymes, including Alcalase, Protamex, Savinase and Corolase 7089, on lentil proteins ( Garcia-Mora et al ., 2015 ). Moreover, high-pressure treatments also increased proteolysis of ovalbumin with pepsin, trypsin and chymotrypsin ( Quirós et al ., 2007 ) and proteolysis of bovine collagen with Alcalase, collagenase, thermolysin, pepsin and trypsin ( Zhang et al ., 2013 ). Although only one high-pressure pre-treatment was tested in this study (600 MPa, 3 min), a previous study carried out by Singh and Ramaswamy (2014) suggested that the DH was
