The laboratory assessment of the hydraulic characteristics of unsaturated soils usually requires expensive equipment and an extended time period. With lack of financial support, yet taking advantage of local knowledge and resources, the development of cheaper alternative equipment is presented in the present paper. The automated setup allows the assessment of the saturation degree of soil samples subjected to different suctions.
This research work is still considered as a theoretical reference material for transmitting the important role that thermoelectric materials play in evolving reality of our world. In this update, a brief reminder of the basics behind thermoelectric materials is provided, followed by some of the most recent developments, whether successful or not, in the attempt to create new more efficient materials for heat recovery within the coming years. One of the approaches deals with an innovative way to produce an already existing base material for thermoelectric application, whilst the other approaches describe new possibilities that were attempts to reach a higher dimensional figure of merit zT.
The aim of this research is to find a solution that can contribute to the more widespread use of electric vehicles and, through development, promote the use of renewable energy sources. It aims to eliminate the disadvantages of electric vehicles, such as self-discharge, stationary charging and limited range. The focus is mainly a solar-powered solution, since small solar cells have already been implemented on the commercially available Nissan Leaf model to solve similar problems but with very little or no improvement. Encouraged by this attempt I have engineered a larger, more useful auxiliary solar cell system to improve the range of these vehicles.
This study presents the development of a pressure measuring unit based on a Pirani gauge and a dedicated embedded system, incorporating a simple, low-cost practical solution for significantly reducing the various measurement altering factors, such as drifts, offsets and set point drifts. This is achieved by eliminating the conventional differential analogue signal processing stage and replacing it with a high resolution analog to digital converter. Therefore the goal was to minimize the number of the electronic components whose operation is influenced by variations in ambient temperature. The main topics discussed in the paper include the presentation of the measuring circuit’s configuration, the development of a low-cost embedded system, the calibration method and the solution implemented for eliminating the platforms limitation regarding the precision of the different mathematical calculations.

The purpose of my research is to provide insight into the current state of smart cities. According to the everyday language, settlements use digital solutions for smart cities, which make life easier for people, who living there. The article demonstrates the impact on smart cities and how complex this concept is in practice. A smart city is constantly exploring and analysing the effects of the developments and innovations introduced.
Industry 4.0 is considered as the digital transformation of manufacturing. Changes due to digitalization are running at a continuously accelerating speed, developments change our whole world, and completely changing the production and labor markets. An overview of the labor market effect of overall digitalization is provided. Predictions and forecasts for labor market phenomena due to robotization are given in terms of overall changes in employment. Changes in employment structure are influenced by several factors of computerizability of the individual work activities of various jobs.
The opportunities offered by the smart city and the smart home to create livelier cities and homes in cities of increasing populations.  Meanwhile, there may be more problems which the average user does not yet think about. Focusing on these issues will be of utmost importance for information security and IT security, as the development of technology may not be able to keep up with a society such technologies are used in. On a theoretical and practical level, I examine an intelligent heating system for IT vulnerability, as well as some cases of attacks against IoT in recent years.
