Abstract

During field work conducted in Colombia, a new species of the genus Specklinia Lindl., S. pereziana was found. The new species is described and illustrated. Information about its habitat and ecology is provided. Specklinia pereziana is similar to S. muricaudata, from which it differs in leaf shape and floral characters - the main differences between the species are discussed.

Abstract

Previously known only from the type locality in Ecuador, Platystele ximenae is reported for the first time from Colombia. This species has been described and illustrated based on the material recently collected in the department of Valle del Cauca. Information about its habitat and ecology is provided.

Abstract

A new species of Monophyllorchis Schltr. is described and illustrated based on Panamanian material. In habit the species resembles M. maculata Garay and its flowers are similar to M. microstyloides (Rchb. f.) Garay. The new entity is placed within an identification key for Monophyllorchis species.

Abstract

A new species of Microchilus Presl, M. campanensis Kolan., is described from Panamanian material and illustrated. The new species differs from M. pedrojuanensis Ormerod in its spur shape, prominent epichile apical lobe, prominent floral bracts, and irregular apical margins of the petals and dorsal sepal. Information about its habitat and conservation status is provided.

Abstract

A new species of Epidendrum is described and illustrated based on Panamanian material. The new entity belongs to the E. nocturnum complex and is distinguished by its oblong-elliptic leaves and by lip shape.

Abstract

A new species of the genus Habenella Small is described based on material collected in Nepal. The novelty resembles H. anomaliflora Kurzweil & Chantanaorr., from which it differs by the presence of a single leaf, oblong-lanceolate lip, ovate lateral sepals with a somewhat oblique base, and oblong-lanceolate petals. An identification key for representatives of Habenaria s.l. reported from Nepal is included.

Abstract

A synopsis of the genus Orchidotypus Kraenzl. in Colombia is presented. Morphological descriptions of all national representatives of the genus are provided, together with information about their habitat, ecology and general distribution, detailed illustrations of the studied plants, and an identification key for Colombian Orchidotypus species. A new species discovered during these studies is described and a new generic combination is proposed.

Cyclopogon antioquiensis Szlach. & Kolan., a new species from Colombia, is described and illustrated. The differences between C. antioquiensis and similar species are briefly discussed and a key to the species of Cyclopogon subg. Cyclopogon is given. Information about the ecology and distribution of the new species is provided.

Abstract

Five new species of Caucaea Schltr. (C. caucana Szlach. & Kolan., C. pichinchae Szlach. & Kolan., C. dodsoniana Szlach. & Kolan., C. pseudoandigena Szlach. & Kolan., C. duquei Szlach. & Kolan.) are described and illustrated. The taxonomic affinities of the new entities are discussed, and information about their habitat and ecology is provided. A key for identification of Caucaea species known from Colombia and Ecuador is provided.
