The main focus of an article became the answers to questions: what factors control the behavior of people involved in business activities in a situation of choice between ethical and cost-effective action, and how important is ethics of individuals when they are making this kind of decision? From this perspective interesting are those who “have not yet entered the labor market”, and therefore their individual ethics has not been subjected to the pressure of business practice in its ethical and unethical dimension. What are their opinions on business ethics? What values in business are important to them?
Internet has become an important way of our image creation, including the professional one. By participating in social media, it is possible to shape our own image not only in eyes of private persons, but also of potential employers. The aim of the article is to identify activities which were undertaken by young participants in labour market (students) associated with creating their own professional image in social media. It was found that they usually concentrated on shaping private relationships, as well as the development of their knowledge of the subjects which were not connected with work or job and also on sharing that knowledge with other users of social media. In contrast, much less attention they paid on creating their own professional image and the development of their careers.
Cultural determinants of employee engagement The article presents the problem of employees’ engagement. Being aware that values are the basis of employees’ engagement it was assumed that it could be different in enterprises operating in diverse cultures. Taking the models of culture by G. Hofstede and H. Schwarz into consideration as well as factors influencing engagement the analysis of cultural conditioning of engagement was conducted.
The methods of raising philanthropic funds in the management of non-governmental organization; determinants The article discusses the issues of obtaining financial resources by Polish non-governmental organizations, with particular emphasis on the philanthropic funds. The prevalence of the use of philanthropic resources by the analyzed entities was presented, as well as the determinants related to this process.
Non-profit organizations pursue social objectives. They base on the work of volunteers - people who devote their time to help others without expecting in return material benefits. They can perform various works, including those ones which require knowledge and skills in the area of management. It is possible to find such competences among the students of Management. The aim of the article is to discuss some opportunities of recruitment volunteers among that target market.
In order for a business activity to be ethical, one needs ethical employees. Nevertheless, the ongoing generational change leads to the situation in which the values and the resulting standards of ethical behavior that have been thus far embraced in the workplace may no longer be unacceptable or respected by young people that enter the labor market. The article sets out to answer the following questions: what place do core values occupy in ethics programs of businesses; is there any relationship between them and the professional values of employees; why take into account individual preferences of organization members in terms of value when developing the agenda of corporate values. An important point of the discussion has become the values shared by those entering the labor market (the so-called Generation Y, or millennials) and the differences in this regard between them and the employees who have been pursuing their professional careers for years now (Generation X).
In democratic societies, citizens join as volunteers in the management of various areas of the social sphere. They do this by engaging in non-profit organizations’ activities. People are the basis for the functioning of these entities, so it is possible to use appropriately adapted HRM methods and tools.
The important part of the social workforce of non-profit organizations is young people (up to the age -of 26). The article presents the results of research on the experiences of young volunteers - the characteristics of their involvement and their participation in personnel processes.
The purpose of the article is to identify the number and types of third-sector organizations, which young people have been involved in, as well as the characteristics of work performed by them in those subjects.
Moreover, the article’s aim is to diagnose of personal processes that these persons have been engaged in and to ascertain how do they evaluate their work experience in the organizations, which were analyzed.
In the literature on management, engagement is generally discussed in the context of cooperation with paid employees. This article focuses on the rarely analyzed issue – developing the engagement of nonprofit members. Research was carried out on this subject in the association in Zielona Góra, where deficits were found in that area. The aim of the article is to determine the reasons for the low engagement among SPOzZD members, to identify their expectations towards the functioning of the Association as well as to indicate activities that could encourage further engagement of these members, which can be implemented by representatives of the Board. The case study method was used.
A situation in which appears at the same time a competition and cooperation between the subjects is defined as a coopetition. First of all it is considered at the mezo level – between the companies, but it can be analysed at the micro level – inside the organization. In the second case, it concerns shaping the relations among the employers which compete one with another and at the same time they cooperate. Among the organizations where the coopetion can be analysed we distinguish two types - for profit and non profit. A difference of the functioning of the for profit and non profit organizations can be seen among other things in the differences that refer to the shape of the coopetition. In the article the characteristic of a intraorganizational coopetition in the for profit and non profit subjects was presented. The base to formulate the conclusions was formed by the investigations made in which, to collect the data there were used the semistructure interviews with six sample selected organizations – three for profit and three non profit.
The negative consequences of the economic downturn started in 2008 in the USA affected many countries, including - Poland. In many organizations, it was necessary to carry out the redundancies, and these ones, if they were implemented in an unethical way, usually intensified dysfunctional processes within the companies. The paper presents examples of outplacement activities which can be taken by the government and by employers to limit these negative effects and to reduce the extent of unemployment. It also shows the results of empirical studies carried out among workers of the Lubusz region, who were made redundant in 2008-2014. There were indicated, e.g. the activities, which benefited the respondents and those ones, which they would like to use, but did not have such an option.
