The sustainable development of an organisation is monitored through the organisation’s performance, which beforehand incorporates all stakeholders’ requirements in its strategy. The strategic management concept enables organisations to monitor and evaluate their effectiveness along with efficiency by monitoring of the implementation of set strategic goals. In the process of monitoring and measuring effectiveness, an organisation can use multiple-criteria decision-making methods as help. This study uses the method of analytic network process (ANP) to define the weight factors of the mutual influences of all the important elements of an organisation’s strategy. The calculation of an organisation’s effectiveness is based on the weight factors and the degree of fulfilment of the goal values of the strategic map measures. New business conditions influence the changes in the importance of certain elements of an organisation’s business in relation to competitive advantage on the market, and on the market, increasing emphasis is given to non-material resources in the process of selection of the organisation’s most important measures.
The Lean concept is recognisable by how fast innovations are implemented and production processes are improved. Likewise, analysis of the implementation of Lean concepts so far has shown that Lean methods and tools cannot be applied to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the same measure as they can be applied to large enterprises.
This paper aims to present a critical review of the implementation of Lean concepts in SMEs with the claim that Lean concept can be successfully applied in all branches of industry, provided that the Lean concept is fully understood, and it’s meaning, principles and practice. Given that SMEs have limited resources, they often face difficulties during the implementation of all Lean tools and methods.
Depending on the type of improvement in Kaizen activities, the Poka Yoke and Jidoka tools should be applied. Every improvement in the production process needs to be standardised as soon as possible so that the processes can become more continuous and efficient.
Keratitis, ichthyosis and deafness (KID) syndrome is a rare congenital ectodermal dysplasia characterized by ichthyosiform hyperkeratosis of the skin, neurosensory hearing loss and vascularizing keratitis. It is inherited as an autosomal dominant trait, now known to be due to mutations in the connexin gene.
This paper presents a case of a 20-year-old male patient with erythrokeratodermia and mild scaling since birth. He presented mild hearing impairment at the age of two and often suffered from eye inflammations. On admission, his clinical picture was typical of KID syndrome with erythrokeratodermia, neurosensory deafness, vascularizing keratitis, alopecia, palmoplantar keratosis, and nail dystrophy. The patient also had a history of recurrent infections, especially bacterial and candidal infections of the skin, auditory canals and eyes. Despite extensive skin, ocular, ear and hair manifestations, his physical and psychomotor growth and development were normal.
Adjuvant balneotherapy in Prolom Spa, along with emollient creams, significantly reduced cutaneous manifestations in our patient.
