Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to underline the role of some wooden species in different units of green areas in Iasi municipality in improving the quality of the environment. By regular visits in the field, we have identified the wooden species frequent in different areas; based on the bibliography in the field, we underlined the ecological characteristics, the resistance to unfavourable climate factors, and the role of these species in improving the quality of the environment. Most species taken into account are resistant to extremely cold weather and to drought; are considered resistant (Acer negundo, Acer pseudoplatanus, Hibiscus syriacus, Ligustrum vulgare) or present moderate resistance (Aesculus hippocastanum, Acer platanoides, Philadelphus coronarius) to polluting elements in the atmosphere. The wooden species considered in this study have profound influence on the environment: they regulate the urban microclimate; they contribute to the concentration reduction of some atmospheric pollutants, the noise level; they improve the edaphical conditions and contribute to the soil consolidation. Some species can be used as bio-monitors of the pollution in urban areas.

Abstract

The paper presents the results of a study regarding the influence of treatment with zinc in different concentrations (50 mg∕l, 100 mg∕l, 200 mg ∕l, 300mg/l, 400 mg ∕l, 500 mg/l, 600 mg ∕l) on seed germination and growth in early ontogenetic stages of Cucumis melo L. We analyzed the following indicators: the percentage of germinated seeds; the length of root, the length of the hypocotyl and the length of the seedling; the number of the laterale roots; the tolerance index and the seedling vigor index. The results underline the specific variations of analysed indicators, depending on the concentrations used for the treatments of seeds. The concentrations used for treatment do not influence negatively the seed germination, but affected the seedling growth (especially the root elongation), the formation and growth process of lateral roots and the seedling vigour index. The delay effect of growth process is very pronounced in the case of high concentration.

Abstract

This paper underlines some aspects regarding the anthropic influence on the “Movila lui Burcel” protected area. There were done some periodical displacement and observations in the field (2012-2014); there were identified anthropic factors with negative influence on the protected area; there were described the effects of the action of these factors. The anthropic factors with negative influence identified on the territory of the protected area are: the existence of the plantations of black locust (Robinia pseudoacacia) and Russian olive (Elaeagnus angustifolia); unreasonable grazing; presence of wastes and some fire hearths. The effects of the anthropic factors identified are represented by: modifications of the habitat with serious consequences on the existence and perpetuation of rare and vulnerable species included on the red lists; degrading of landscape.

Abstract

This paper brings a contribution to the knowledge of vegetal organisms that participate in the processes of self-cleaning in the urban sector of Nicolina river. By periodical outings on the field, observations on the field and in laboratory, we have identified species of aquatic and paludous macrophytes in the composition of water biocenosis of Nicolina river and algae taxons in the periphyton of some dominant or frequent aquatic and paludous macrophytes. We identified 28 species of superior macrophytes (paludous, aquatic); most of them are perennial species and prefer a sub-layer rich or excessively rich in mineral nitrogen. In the periphyton, the species of Phylum Bacillariophyta are predominant. The species taken into account fulfil numerous ecological services and are essential to assure the dynamic balance of the aquatic ecosystem.
