This article presents selected aspects connected to work safety, related to production facilities in Poland, where production lines are installed as new, or transferred from other locations. The author focuses on ensuring work safety from the moment the decision of is made by company authorities, through the transfer of all production means and their commissioning to a regular production stage. The article contains the review of legislation, literature on technology transfer as well as researches and experiences of the author gained during his cooperation with international companies from the industries like food, energy, automotive and others.
The concept of an Agile Organization is the part of the management concepts which aim at adjustment of the production to ever changing environmet. In today’s fast changing landscape, agility may prove to be the difference between success and failure for any business. An organization can be agile only and only if it is focused on business drivers and the factors that shape the business drivers. The aim of the article is to present the concept of an Agile Organization and to identify its basic assumptions for the production in the face of crisis.
The article focuses on the analysis of the internal damping changes depending on the amplitude of the magnesium alloy AZ31. Internal damping reflects the ability of the material irreversibly dissipating mechanical energy oscillations. It means that the material of high internal damping ability is able to significantly reduce the vibration amplitude. Internal damping is, generally, dependent on many factors (temperature, material purity, grain size, mechanical and thermal processing, etc.) and its value is determined by interactions between various mechanisms dissipation of mechanical energy. Ultrasonic resonance method was used in experimental measurements, which is based on continuous excitation of oscillations of the specimen, and the entire apparatus vibrates at a frequency which is near to the resonance. Starting resonance frequency for all measurements was about f = 20470 Hz.
The hereby article describes the study of two cases, the recruitment process as regards a newly created position and the decision concerning promotion to a managerial position. In both cases tool called Facet5 (used for measuring employees’ potential) was applied to support decisions connected with human resources. As far as the first case is concerned, the profile of an ideal candidate was established. Then the profiles of three candidates selected based on content were compared to the aforementioned profile of an ideal candidate. As regards the second case, the analysis of the strengths and weaknesses in the employee profile and comparing the benchmarks concerning the particular position confirmed the subjective assessments of the supervisors and contributed to making the right decision. The issues connected to the increasing significance of soft competences, talent management in organization and organizational culture in terms of employee effectiveness and corporate competitive were discussed as well. Analyzed situations indicate the potential value resulting from the usage of tools for researching employees’ potential.
In Poland, one of the industries that has to take action to increase innovation is mining, as it is still a strategic branch of the Polish industry. The analysis of the structure of expenditure on mining innovation shows that there are innovations in the product sphere and solutions related to mechanical coal mining, while the sphere of widely understood management is omitted and expenditure on this field is negligible. Bearing in mind, among other things, the above challenges facing the Polish economy in the near future and in particular Polish coal industry, the author of the article attempted to analyse the most important challenges facing the mining industry in Poland. This article will attempt to answer the question in which direction innovative measures should be taken in Polish hard coal mining industry to allow for the development of this industry.
The fact that companies are constantly subjected to changes creates challenges connected with constant learning and acquiring knowledge. Companies are forced to act in accordance with the generative strategy. Besides realizing the traditional tasks of production or service, companies need to acquire and process knowledge and apply it in practice. The consequence of these changes is the transformation of contemporary enterprises into knowledge-based organizations, with managers increasingly recognizing the role and importance of the concept of knowledge management in creating enterprises competitiveness. The main aim of the article is identification of knowledge management in production enterprises.
The author presents theoretical and practical considerations in which strategies of enterprise management in crisis situations will be presented. Therefore, two theses have been presented: 1. proper selection of the strategy in time of crisis is an element of enterprise success; 2. restructuring is part of the effective protection of the enterprise before the crisis. For this reason, a verification of views connected to the ways of managing in case of crisis seems reasonable. In addition, note that the board will decide whether a crisis in an enterprises is a threat to their functioning or it is an opportunity of management reconstruction process. These considerations will be presented in both, their theoretical and practical aspect.
Appropriate management of waste streams is a very important part of business operations as it is reflected in the reduction in the flow and use of materials. It also minimizes negative impact on the environment. The article discusses the capabilities of Microsoft Dynamics NAV in the management of reverse logistics processes. We also developed a system supporting reverse logistics as a module for Microsoft Dynamics NAV. It automatically counts waste dividing them into appropriate groups. At the time of writing there was no direct support for waste management in the Dynamics NAV system.
Nickel base superalloys are hi-tech materials intended for high temperature applications. This property owns a complex microstructure formed by matrix of Ni and variety of precipitates. The type, form and the amount of these phases significantly affect the resulting properties of these alloys. At sufficiently long exposure to high temperatures, the transformation phase can occur, which can lead to degradation of properties of these alloys. A cyclic plastic deformation can accelerate these changes, and they could occur at significantly lower temperatures or in shorter time of exposure. The aim of this study is to describe phase transformation, which can occur by a cyclic plastic deformation at high temperatures in nickel base superalloy Inconel 718.
Non-alloy quality case-hardening steels are used for low-load components made on automatic machining centers (automatic lines). Because of the widespread use of these steel in open constructions, they are exposed to atmospheric corrosion. The study attempted to analyze the effect of 20% aqueous NaCl solution on the roughness of the steel as a result of corrosion. The steel roughness and corrosion wear were determined according to corrosion time.
