Abstract

The submitted article devotes to the protection of personal data, the protection of personal rights in connection to the use of monitoring devices - camera systems. It analyses legal regulation valid and effective up to 25.5.2018, namely the selected parts, which are assessed in view of suitability and sufficient protection of personal data of data subjects. Several of its parts are subject to scrutiny. Subsequently, the attention is given to the legal regulation effective from 25.5.2018, which is a response to the adoption of a Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council 2016/679 of 27 April 2016 on protection of personal data of natural persons. Even though the original regulation is subjected to a relatively strong criticism, this new regulation does not contain even those guarantees, which are contained by the still effective act. Within this context, the conclusion contains the formulated specific recommendations and proposals to a significantly more effective protection of personal data of data subjects with regard to the used monitoring devices - camera systems.

Abstract

Openness is an expression of an enterprise’s ability to adapt to changing environment conditions and its ability to cooperate with different types of partners. A given company’s openness shows its readiness for the creation of dynamics of many business processes, including the creation of its competitive advantage. Due to the nature of today’s enterprises’ environment, mainly its “high velocity” & “complexity” attributes, openness of companies has to be multifaceted. Organization-customer relationships, called co-creation, are one of such facets. The capacity for effective co-creation gives a company the ability to gain a competitive advantage along with the chance for its permanent dynamization and sustainability. The main purpose of the paper is to present the framework and algorithm of co-creation as a method of reducing the complexity of the environment and dynamizing companies’ competitive advantages. A review of literature in the areas of open organization, open culture, partnership, co-creation, and competitive advantage provides a basis for understanding the process of co-creation. Collected data show that the activity of enterprises in this process is a key factor in the reduction of complexity of a company’s environment and an important stimulator of the dynamization of a company’s competitive advantage. The authors’ own CATI questionnaire survey research conducted in Poland showed the level of preparation Polish SMEs have to co-create.

Abstract

The college and university systems are more complex and required persistent approach towards adoption and transformation. Highly vulnerable environment portrays the need to visualize the regular and strategic issues with the larger perspectives as a whole and develop a model which is more focused towards sustainability and reformation. The current study has attempted to conceptualize systems thinking in action model which consists of four stages of action cycle; diagnosis and analysis, modeling, intervention and review and lessons learned. This is attempting to evaluate the systems thinking among the educational leaders in higher education in Thailand through the fuzzy multi-criteria decision-making method. The study has found that leaders are adopting systems thinking in the moderate level, however, the first three stages are found less in practice and more in perceived importance. The study found that there is higher need of calling for collaborative, cooperative and participation of stakeholders’ involvement. The study has further given managerial implications.

Abstract

This research focusses on the firm endowments; focusing on the impact of an organizational structure and its managerial systems as the intrapreneurial conditions (IC) for constraining and/or leveraging behavioral patterns of intrapreneurial dynamics (ID). With a positivistic stance and deductive approach to theory development, the researcher attempts to test the phenomenon using a single case design with a holistic frame. The intrapreneurial assessment model of Hartman (2006) outlines the IC variables. Online questionnaires directed to the stakeholders of the partaking firm have originated a probabilistic and randomized sample of 9,70% of respondents of the targetpopulation (670 employees). We argue that the firm´s environment has a direct impact on the intrapreneurial behavior at both, managerial and non-managerial levels, since data exhibits an interaction of variables IC-ID with a positive correlation in its mutation patterns. Herein, is not encompassed the subset of ID with roots upon corporate entrepreneurship (CE); however, it constitutes a clear gap for further statistical and analytical generalizations. This study illuminates the determinism of the organizational ecosystems on the formation of intrapreneurial ideas and ventures and shaping the new intraprises with regard to Entrepreneurial Employee Activity (EEA).

Abstract

The intellectual capital research and practice entered in the last years into a visible decline due to some barriers in understanding its intangible nature and designing Newtonian metrics for its measurement and reporting. Inertial thinking is very powerful in promoting new approaches for the need of a new perspective in working with intellectual capital. Unfortunately, even some top journals in the domain of intellectual capital remained trapped into this Newtonian logic and standard statistical analysis, as a result of the mind-set of their editorial staff and reviewers. The purpose of this paper is to present a critical analysis of the intellectual capital research and practice today and to reveal some of the most important barriers in understanding the complexity and nature of the intellectual capital. These barriers manifest like myths in approaching the research into intellectual capital, myths that create a false reality and false research questions, which enter into collision with the real life of companies and their business. The paper identifies seven myths which created a Newtonian version of the non-Newtonian reality, and a golden rule for further research into the intellectual capital of organizations. The conclusion of the present critical analysis is that we need a new approach to understand the complexity of the intellectual capital and new metrics to measure it.

Abstract

Integrated marketing communication evolves evidently with the development of today's markets, their participants and technology - in the light of contemporary research. The objectives of this article are: firstly, to show the evolution of the models of integrated marketing communication ICM in the light of current research; secondly, to analyse the configuration of various ICM tools (traditional and Internet) which constitute the level of operationalization of ICM models and thirdly, to formulate business and brand implications. The article is based on research-based secondary sources (scientific journals) and empirical (case study). The results of the discussion are: the concept of the strategic dimension of integrated marketing communications in the enterprise and the proposal of its operationalization in the form of a 360 degrees communication model.

Abstract

In this paper a novel approach on knowledge integration in presented in the context of the knowledge-based society/economy (KBS/E). What this paper brings new is the transdisciplinary integrative approach of the knowledge through the “conceptual knowledge space” as a potentiality, and the “practical transdisciplinary knowledge space”, as actuality, with the transition between them through the included middle. Are introduced some of the most important practical educational environmental transdisciplinary conceptual and applied spaces, as innovative groundbreaking clusters that foster the origination, transfer and implementation of knowledge in the process of achieving sustainable development of the continuously integrative society. The University is considered the most appropriate space for this transdisciplinary approach of knowledge achievement, being a natural habitat of the synergistic integration of education, research and industry, and with its adaptability and adequateness in the knowledge economy space. University should become an open space in a reconfiguration in a integration of a highrequired degree with breadth profile competence in the integrated fields of different disciplines, with the need to have a depth profile of the knowledge in research on particular cognitive field. A new redefined mission of university by collaborating with industry should be linked to a redefinition of the role of the research in universities in the knowledge based society/economy.

Abstract

The Smart City concept is a challenge for all levels of public administration. With a growing degree of urbanization socio-economic problems accumulate in urban agglomeration. The Smart City concept has the potential to effectively address those issues by implementing relevant projects. Our main objective is to analyze Smart City concept in EU with emphasize to Smart Governance. Specifically, we investigate four areas related to Smart City concept, such as: the importance of Smart City Governance including Smart City manager role, the position of Smart City concept in EU policies, tools for it's promotion among EU countries and good practices of municipalities in implementing Smart City concept. The article was processed using analysis of relevant information sources. Regarding our results, the paper brings in an useful insight into Smart City manager role, concerned EU policies (especially 5G, Big data, ICT innovation and Internet of Things), tools as Smart City Clusters, Smart City living labs and examples including comparison of municipalities representing good practices (Amsterdam, Helsinki, Barcelona, Copenhagen, Vienna). In addition, we claim that the current concept of the Smart City within the EU institutions as well as within identified Smart City clusters and cities as examples of best practice is predominantly technological. However, professional discourse has shifted in recent years to the dimension of municipalities as an organizational and management component which lead to the idea of Smart Governance. Gathered findings could provide an inspiration to municipalities and their management in order to face new challenges related to the Smart City area.

Conference realignment in NCAA college athletics impacted traditional rivalries and affiliations as it took shape from 2010 to 2013. As schools traded conferences, their college football programs were left to compete against new foes, and in new markets for high school athletes. The impact of brand recognition, prestige, and new conference affiliation on recruiting are examined herein. The findings of the market competitive externalities are important for every labour market in which business opt to compete.

Abstract

Young dynamic service enterprises – gazelles – represent the modern economy phenomenon, which stimulates the growth by its operation, in particular of local economy. This article identifies the position of gazelles in services and defines their characteristic features with regard to knowledge intensity of their production. Research results document the dominant representation of gazelles in services within the framework of their sectoral distribution and their growing economic effects in the Slovak Republic. Knowledge intensity of production is determinant of gazelle innovativeness in services, and the result is supported by knowledge of higher intensity perception of innovation effects in a knowledge-intensive production of services.
