The concept of corporate social responsibility (CSR) since several dozen years has been recognized as one of the most important solutions used by companies that want to build competitive advantage through concern for economic effects, people and the environment. Important role in the management of CSR by these companies is the implementation of its standards and norm and their reporting. However, the question arises whether such activities are sufficient to actually talk about the company as a socially responsible organization. In the presented article, a broader analysis of this problem was undertaken, trying to answer what determines the company's recognition as socially responsible.

The management of the work environment aims at shaping all elements of the work environment, also in the aspect of safety. All activities in the field of planning, organizing, conducting and controlling individual elements of the work environment are aimed at optimizing the working conditions. In office and administrative work many factors affect the level of occupational health and safety. In the paper, the selected physical factors of the work environment - lighting, noise and microclimate - at the office and administration position in order to shape a safe, ergonomic and optimal workplace have been analyzed. The article uses measurement methods using devices - noise, lighting and microclimate meters

Technological progress has brought a large amount of complex machinery into the work processes, which represents a potential source of serious injuries, accidents, or breakdowns. The aim of this paper is to follow new trends in the FMEA and their use in our study. We have chosen the Turning Machine Doosan V-Puma Doosan PUMA V550R Machining Centre with manufacturing diameters and mechanical machining operations. We have created the FMEA team, which participated in the entire evaluation and analysis. We identified possible failures and causes of failures in the given operations. We applied the conventional PFMEA and identified the RPN risk number. We also used DEMATEL model. Using DEMATEL matrices, we identified a binding between the individual failures and the causes of the failures. Some failures will become the main cause of other failures and the causes of the failures; some arise as a result of other failures or causes of failures. Finally, we evaluated the applicability of individual methods and models. By the DEMATEL model we clarified the significance and bindings between individual failures.

Spontaneuos combustion (or self-ignition) is the initiation of the burning process without an external source of ignition, such as a flame or spark. This phenomenon often occurs during storage of such substances as hay, straw as well as coal or culm. Like any other type of fire, in addition to potential material losses, it also poses a threat to people. Thanks to the systematic monitoring of landfills using a thermal imaging camera, the dangerous effects of this phenomenon can be avoided. The article presents photos taken on a coal storage site where, as a result of both prolonged heat and wind exposition, a self-ignition phenomenon occurred that was detected early due to the use of thermovision.

The article presents an analysis of the modification of the production process on a CNC machine tool. The process was modified by using a new deep hole drilling procedure. As a consequence, an improvement in the quality of manufactured elements in series production has been achieved. The applications were supported by metrological analysis of the product.

The today’s change in climatic conditions results in weather phenomena occurring increasingly more frequent in Poland that can lead to crisis situations. Also the growing number of high or increased risk of serious industrial failure establishments causes greater probability of adverse and harmful effects for the environment and the population. A response to the need for minimization of those and other threats is effective crisis management. This management should be supported by IT solutions. The paper proposes to use a selected artificial intelligent method - expert systems - in the crisis management process. An expert system is a computer program adopting the knowledge and reasoning mechanisms to solve problems that require experience and expertise. The idea of expert systems is to transfer the knowledge held by a domain expert into a knowledge base, which is applied by the reasoning mechanism. The article presents some results from surveys carried out in selected local government entities of the Silesian voivodeship as regards the interest in implementation of artificial intelligence in the discussed field, and proposes an expert system for a particular crisis situation.
The global production companies of today are exposed to increasingly stronger pressure to implement new technologies, improve quality and decrease production costs. All this is related to ensuring a proper technical condition of machines and devices. This article presents the results of an analysis of the impact of implementation of TPM at the rolling mill on work safety. The number of near misses and accidents was used as a measure of the safety level.

The main goal of the study will be to pay attention to technologization of the learning process and its social dimensions in the context of artificial intelligence. The reflection will mainly cover selected theories of learning and knowledge management in the organization and its broadly understood environment. Considering the sociological dimensions of these phenomena is supposed to lead to the emphasis on the importance of the security of the human-organization-device relationship. Due to the interdisciplinary nature of the issue, the article will include references to the concept of artificial intelligence and machine learning. Difficult questions will arise around the ideas and will become the conclusion of the considerations.

The results of a literature review show that there is an undeniable link between the working conditions connected with the existence of threats in a form of harmful, dangerous (mechanical) or strenuous factors and the employees’ health condition determining the level of their ability to continue their work. It is necessary to shape the employee’s working environment in an appropriate way by eliminating or minimising the threats related to the work process (in accordance with the binding norms) in order to prevent the existence of any health problems or such undesirable events as accidents at work.
Thus, the issue concerning the influence of elimination or limitation of threats connected with the existence of harmful, dangerous (mechanical) and strenuous factors in the work process on the level of employment in the hazardous conditions considering the prevention of early leave from the performed work is becoming an important and current research problem. Therefore, in this article, the attempt was made to present the dependencies between the level of considered employment and the factors affecting the level of acceptable occupational risk. The econometric modelling, which uses cross-section-time data, was applied. Moreover, the analysis showing the changes in shaping considered variables was performed. The presented information refers to Polish regions and was taken from the publications of CSO (Statistics Poland) covering the period 2011 - 2017.
