Transportation problem is one of the models of Linear Programming problem. It deals with the situation in which a commodity from several sources is shipped to different destinations with the main objective to minimize the total shipping cost. There are three well-known methods namely, North West Corner Method Least Cost Method, Vogel’s Approximation Method to find the initial basic feasible solution of a transportation problem. In this paper, we present some statistical methods for finding the initial basic feasible solution. We use three statistical tools: arithmetic and harmonic mean and median. We present numerical examples, and we compare these results with other classical methods.

Nowadays, teaching grammar and lexis to students is undoubtedly necessary but not enough. The new approaches to language teaching place a great emphasis on developing learners’ communicative competency. Besides the professional skills, essential to a successful career, individuals also need to acquire the communicative competency, which is equally important as it includes various other competencies, such as: linguistic, social, socio-cultural, or strategic competences in order to communicate and interact with each other. Our paper aims at discussing the different ways and methods teachers can use in the language classroom to build and enhance students’ social and strategic competencies.

In this paper, the retina is discussed as part of the feature of extraction of retinal scans for use in security systems as a means of identification. The design system contains a method of image acquisition and processing of the image. A computer system is also incorporated for matching and verifying the image captured to an already present representation of unique features of the retina that are stored as templates for matching and identification. It should then either allow or deny the user depending on the results of the matching process. This paper shows the development of the step undertaken to process the image to the extraction of the features. The high resolution images are taken through a series of image enhancement process before feature extraction technics are applied and before templates are created for future referencing. The main limitation of this process is attributed to capturing the image from the retina. The image obtained may be of poor quality thus making the unique features of the retina unclear.
The influence of the peroxide decontamination mixture on the barrier polymeric material used for the construction of the anti-gas protective garment OPCH-05 has been study. This kind of mixture is used with the help of the decontamination vehicle ACHR-90 and its EDS mixture. The both soldiers and operators of the ACHR-90 or the EDS mixture can be in a direct contact with spattering decontamination mixture that can cause significant damages of the anti-gas protective garment OPCH-05. For evaluation of protective properties and their potential changes the MIKROTEST method and methodology has been used. This paper is another publication which deals with the influences of decontamination mixtures introduced in the Czech Armed Forces Chemical Corps armament on the barrier material composed of the butyl-rubber polymeric mixture in combination with the polyamide textile.
The current study assessed and compared the emotional intelligence of 75 high school students who grew up with different family structures. High school students between the ages of 16-18 years were randomly selected from high schools in Bucharest, Romania. The General Emotional Intelligence Scale (GEIS) was used to measure the level of their emotional intelligence. In addition, a nonverbal test consisting of 20 face photoswith different facial expressions was used to measure a specific aspect of emotional intelligence, perceiving emotions. Results revealed that family structure does not influence emotional intelligence; however, when looking at the aspect of perceiving emotions, family structure influences this aspect of emotional intelligence.
This paper aims to analyze the stage reached in the development and application of stochastic optimization models, highlighting some of the most important moments and achievements in the field. The author tries to identify particular aspects that define the classes of stochastic optimization models, specifying the level reached in certain directions of research and implementation of these models in order to identify possible directions of development of these specific techniques.
Swimming is a very important component of the military training. This can be proven by the fact that swimming is a beneficial sport for the human body because the joints are not tensed like in running, increases heart rate, but also stimulates blood circulation. At the same time, while swimming, absolutely all muscle groups are involved, which means automatically shaping them and, over time, increasing the body’s resistance.
The study found the following:
• students’ results at the 50 m freestyle swimming test are positively influenced if an additional training program is respected;
• additional physical training leads to improved performance.
Due to the advanced equipment for diagnosing the components and technical systems of which they are part, the advanced software techniques and applications for the execution, monitoring and maintenance of management, methods, the tendency to develop the type of predictive maintenance is now being generalized. The importance is given by the possibility of processing the determined results, by estimating the tendency of manifestation of the functional parameters and by establishing the moment of the technical interventions for maintaining the equipment/vehicle in the state of availability. The predictive or conditional maintenance, along with the systematic and predictive maintenance, as ways of planning and executing preventive maintenance, has the advantage that the costs of purchasing diagnostic equipment can be offset by the reduced repair costs, as theoretically the major equipment failure will be greatly reduced. The authors do a study on the possibilities of monitoring and driving automotive predictive maintenance using the Keep the Machine the software application Keep the Machine Running. The research method is to investigate the current level of maintenance and the facilities offered by the specific diagnosis and software application, and to integrate the results in order to achieve an efficient maintenance management.
