In case of old metal constructions, where the loadbearing structure dominates, material issues have a great influence on the behaviour of the construction both in terms of function and safety. Old metal constructions generally have a monumental nature, so preservation, restoration and rehabilitation works are inseparable from material issues. Due to this monumental nature, research into the material generally allows only minor damage, therefore these investigations require the use of special methods.
The wide spread of IoT devices makes possible the collection of enormous amounts of sensor data. Traditional SQL (structured query language) database management systems are not the most appropriate for storing this type of data. For this task, distributed database management systems are the most adequate. Apache Cassandra is an open source, distributed database server software that stores large amounts of data on low-coast servers, providing high availability. The Cassandra uses the gossip protocol to exchange information between the distributed servers. The query language used is the CQL (Cassandra Query Language).
In this paper we present an alternative solution to traditional SQL-based database management systems - the so called NoSQL type database management systems, summarize the main types of these systems and provide a detailed description of the Apache Cassandra open source distributed database server installation, configuration and operation.
During patient monitoring, personalization is extremely important in order to achieve realistic results when determining the risk level based on the measurement of physiological characteristics. This requirement can be met by a system where neither the inputs nor their number are fixed but can be defined in a personalized way. In this article, that kind of flexible framework system is presented, with particular reference to its input factors and their measurement possibilities.
Today, the state, its organizations and its citizens have become vulnerable to the complexity of complex electronic information systems in the cyberspace of Hungary, without which state operations and the provision and use of different services become unworkable. In addition to the modern economic system, society is not prepared to operate without lost infrastructure, assets or services, so they must clearly be protected especially because the information used and generated in their operation and the data managed represent significant assets.
In the following the role and contribution of vehicle dynamics simulation to the development of race cars at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Debrecen is presented. The application of the developed simulation program for the optimization of the car’s technical data, together with the principle and method of optimization, is also described here.
The World Heritage Square at Pécs is to be constructed in the framework of a program dedicated to developing the locations of the World Heritage. The aim is to rehabilitate the squares belonging to the World Heritage in the hope of increasing the attendance on a conceptual thinking. The study focuses on the marked areas with the purpose of connecting the Castle Wall and its walkway. The rehabilitation even extends to redesign the area in front of the Old Christian Mausoleum.
The proportion of renewable energy sources must be increased to reduce the energy dependence and energy cost of municipalities, to increase energy security and to consider aspects of the environment. The purpose of this research is to determine how and to what extent small-size household power plants (SSHPP) – which belong to the category of smallest-scale power plants –can contribute to providing the electricity supply with regard to all the Hungarian settlements.
Industry 4.0 is considered as the digital transformation of manufacturing. Changes due to digitalization are running at a continuously accelerating speed, developments change our whole world, and completely changing the production and labor markets. An overview of the labor market effect of overall digitalization is provided. Predictions and forecasts for labor market phenomena due to robotization are given in terms of overall changes in employment. Changes in employment structure are influenced by several factors of computerizability of the individual work activities of various jobs.
With the wide application of engineering technologies, environmental aspects increasingly focus attention on safety. Reducing environmental impacts also affects operational safety, and because of the adverse effect, there is a dual situation in the relationship of these two areas. On one hand, maintaining the acceptable environmental status is closely related to the secure operation of the technologies, on the other hand, by ensuring safety, the risks of the new environmental impacts shall be managed. Such risks prevent the development of a dynamically balanced environmental system. Based on the examination of both the environment uses and the operational conditions, we have reached the conclusion that we will analyse environmental risk management in the context of safety. In the first phase of the research we reviewed the relations between safety and the modern environmental problem.
The realistic response of the steel frames cannot always be investigated with idealized rigid or articulated joints. For sideways loads, significant calculation errors may occur if the modeling of the joints does not take into account their most realistic behaviour. The use of semi-rigid joints, both in design and construction, can result in favourable structural properties in the case of steel frames, especially in seismic areas.
